FAQs
Q
I've heard ionisers can make the walls dirty
?
Ionisers will concentrate airborne dirt on to adjacent walls and
surfaces. However, the Air Ion Technologies range of Air Processors
will not do so. They can be installed on wall or ceiling without
the risk of unsightly marks.
Q
How can I compare the performance of different ionisers?
You will require an Air Ion Analyser a sensitive instrument designed
to detect ions. Currently there is no global standard for ion measurement
so different manufacturers have employed different standards to
measure or calculate output. Claims of 'trillions' of ions are very
misleading and usually relate to electrons released at the emitter
- whereas the effective ion density is that measured at the point
of use. Our measurements of ion density are always made at fixed
distances under strictly controlled conditions. Air Ion Technologies
have been manufacturers of air ion measuring equipment since 1972
and recommend a standard measurement distance of 0.5, 1 and 2 metres
for ionisers and 2, 5 and 10 metres for air processors.
Q
I have no spare sockets for an ioniser at my workstation.
The mymicroZone computer ioniser is supplied with an IEC adaptor
so you can plug the ioniser into the same power cord as your computer
or monitor. No extra sockets are required.
Q
What servicing does an Air Processor require?
Air Processors have a long life provided they are routinely serviced.
Servicing is specialist activity and carried out by Air Ion Technologies
or its approved agents. The service period is between 4 and 6 months
depending on the air quality. A service contract is part of each
purchase. Servicing includes monitoring ion output, routine changes
of filters, cleaning and checking all other components. Ionisers,
by contrast are easily cleaned by the user.
Q
How can I be sure my premises are short of negative ions?
If you work in a building with air conditioning or ducted ventilation,
your ion levels will be well below the natural levels found in clean
outdoor air. Air Ion Technologies offer a site assement, which includes
measuring the air ion levels and specifying for a suitable installation.
